Shirdi - A holy place to visit and a famous tourist destination


Shirdi is a town located in Rahata taluka in Ahmedanagar district in Maharashtra. Shirdi is known as the land of Sai. It is 270 kms from Mumbai, 83 kms from Ahmednagar,  and 15kms from Kopargaon. In eighteenth century, a young bearded man ( Sai Baba) with sparkling eyes arrive in Shirdi Village.
Sai Baba is regarded by his devotees as a saint, a fakir, a satguru and an incarnation of Lord Shiva.

Before arrival of Sai baba, nobody knew much about Shirdi but later Shirdi gained importance because of Sai baba. People from all over India and even tourists from outside come here to get the blessings of Shirdi Sai Baba. During his lifetime, Sai baba did so many miracles and still people are experiencing his presence and blessings.

Shri Sai baba Sansthan Trust, Shirdi, is the governing and administrative body of Shri Sai Baba Samadhi temple and all other temples in this premises. It provides various facilities like accomodation, lunch, refreshments, railway reservation and lot more.

Sai Baba left his body on 15th October 1918. Before leaving his body, his last words were to keep his body in an adjoining wada constructed by Booti (Bhakt of Sri Sai). Sai Baba's body was kept in that wada and that wada is known as Samadhi Mandir. Baba has promised that he will be active and vigorous even after leaving the body.


Places to Visit in Shirdi



Shri Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir - It is one of the most famous and significant temple in India. At any time, the temple is full of devotees to have Baba's darshan. People carry flowers, garlands, sweets, fruits etc to offer Sai Baba at his Samadhi. Some people bring shawl, book etc for which they want to get Baba's blessings by touching it to his feet. In any festival, there is huge crowd for Baba's darshan.

Guru Sthan - It is the place where Sai Baba first appeared as a 16 year old boy. The place is situated under a neem tree. This place is located in Kopargaon which is around 14 kms from Shirdi. Devotees believe that lighting incense sticks here will cure them of all ailments.

Dwarkamai -  The place is a simple unadorned structure where Sai baba spent most of his time. Baba has said that coming to Dwarkamai will resolve all the problems of devotees and they will get blessings.

Lendi Baug -  The beautiful garden is situated at Shirdi-Manmad state highway. Sai Baba used to spent a lot of his time here watering the plants daily in the morning and evening.

Chavadi - The place is located near Dwarkamai. During his last years, Sai Baba used to spent alternate nights at Chavadi. 

Khandoba Mandir - The temple is situated on the main road, dedicated to Khandoba, the presiding deity of the town.

Shani Shingnapur Temple - It is 65 kms away from Shirdi and is must visit place on the trip to Shirdi. The temple is believed to be a "Jagrut Devasthan". The deity is called Swayambhu is believed to reside in the idol and protect from theft and harm. There is huge crowd on saturdays for "Tilak Abhishek" pooja.

Where to Eat


To provide meal arrangement for most of devotees at a time, Sansthan has implemented new Sri Sai Prasadalaya. Approximately, 4500 devotees can take meal at a time. The food here is very tasty as it is with the blessings of Sri Sai.
There are different Good and economical restaurants in Shirdi where we can have a meal.

How to reach Shirdi


By Train - Shirdi now has a Sainagar Shirdi railway station. Also, there is good connectivity from Kopargaon, Manmad and Pune.

By Bus - Maharashtra State transport buses are available from major cities like Nasik, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Pune and Kopargaon to Shirdi.

By Air - The nearest airport to Shirdi is Aurangabad Airport which is 130 kms from Shirdi.


Shirdi is nice place to visit and Lots of devotees come for darshan all round the corner and get the blessings of Shirdi Sai.
