There is tradition of sharing sweets in every auspicious event whether it is the birth of a child, buying a new car, house warming, getting married or any other occasions. In any festival, we can see shops full of sweets everywhere. Sweet is most common in all age groups.
Having sweets is a compulsory part of your celebrating any ceremony. Indian sweets includes the widest range of sugary delicacies, confectionaries and desserts. In India, sweets have their own importance and relevance. It is believed that any meal is incomplete with proper sweets. Mithai or sweets signify prosperity, happiness and affection.
Not only in India, sweets are a part of every culture worldwide. New year, diwali, christmas, birthday celebrations , marriages and other occasions sweets are must.
Rasgulla is famous bengali sweet and mostly loved by all. It is very delicious and easy to make with very less ingredients.
Recipe of Rasgulla
Ingredients
- Full Cream Milk - 1 litre
- Curd - 1/2 cup ( or 2 tbsp Lemon Juice)
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Water - 2 1/4 cup
- Cardamom Powder - 1/4 tsp
- Saffron - few strands
- Ice cube - 1 cup
- Pista - for Garnishing
Steps to prepare
- Boil the milk and add curd (or lemon juice) to it.
- The Milk start curdling (chena will start separating). Let it boil till milk gets curdled properly.
- Switch off the gas , add ice cubes and leave it for 5 min.
- Stain the milk in a muslin cloth. The cheese will be collected in the cloth.
- Tie the cloth and hang it for 45 min to drain excess water.
- After 45 min, mix the cheese properly to make a smooth dough. Make small balls of it.
- Take a wide pan and add sugar and water to it. Bring it to boil.
- Add cardamom powder and Saffron strands to it.
- Add the Balls to this sugar syrup.
- Cover the pot with a lid and cook for 10 min on a medium high flame. Gently stir in between.
- The balls get double in size when done.
- Allow it to cool completely.
- Garnish with Pista and Ready to serve.
